Private wealth advice for complex lives.
Hermosa Wealth Management is a California-based Registered Investment Advisor serving affluent families, executives, founders, retirees, and business owners who want a trusted advisor and an integrated plan, not just a portfolio manager.
- Independent fiduciary
- No commissions
- No proprietary products
- Conflicts fully disclosed
- Assets custodied at Charles Schwab & Co., Inc.
A fiduciary built for complexity.
Hermosa Wealth Management was built on a simple belief: that affluent families and individuals deserve a financial advisor who is fully on their side, with no commissions, and no agenda other than helping them build and protect their wealth.
We work with clients whose financial lives carry real complexity, including concentrated stock positions, business ownership, equity compensation, and the tax exposure that comes with them. We believe that kind of wealth deserves more than a portfolio; it deserves an advisor who sees the whole picture and coordinates it as one.
We operate as a fiduciary in everything we do. That is not a marketing claim. It is a legal and ethical obligation that shapes every conversation, every recommendation, and every decision we make on behalf of our clients.
We are selective about who we work with, and we want you to be equally selective about us. We keep our client base intentionally focused so that every relationship gets the time and attention it deserves. We are fully independent, with no proprietary products to sell, and we answer only to our clients.

Independent
No commissions, no proprietary products, no sales quotas, and no product shelf to clear. We select from the market and we prioritize our clients above all else.
Experienced
Our founder brings over 25 years of experience across investment banking, capital markets, corporate finance, and wealth management.
Fiduciary
We are held to a fiduciary standard, which obligates us to place your interests ahead of our own at all times, across the entire relationship.
Attentive
Each advisor’s practice is capped at 80 households. The advisor who builds your plan is the advisor who answers your call.
Investment banking, capital markets, corporate finance, and wealth management experience(1).
Municipal and public infrastructure transactions Ken Gillespie has worked on in prior roles across investment banking and capital markets(1).
100% independent
Fiduciary advice and personalized attention for every client.
(1) Experience figures describe Ken Gillespie’s individual career, including work at prior firms before Hermosa Wealth Management was founded in 2020, in roles such as lead banker, co-lead banker, and lead execution banker.
Private wealth management for complex financial lives
We coordinate investment strategy, retirement planning, tax planning, risk management, and estate work into one plan built around your goals. The work extends well beyond portfolio management.
Connected rather than scattered: a plan that accounts for your legacy, your property, your charitable giving, and your family, and an advisor who is available to help think it through with you before a decision is made.
We believe wealth is a tool, not a destination. Our goal is to help you use it wisely, for the family, friends, opportunities, and causes that define your life.
Wealth management
Estate and wealth transfer planning, integrated tax strategy, retirement modeling, and charitable structures. We work alongside your attorney and CPA rather than around them.
Investment management
Portfolios are built one household at a time around your goals, risk tolerance, tax situation, and time horizon. A disciplined, goal-oriented approach, coordinated with the rest of your financial plan rather than managed in isolation.
Financial planning
A simplified roadmap covering retirement income, cash flow, asset projections, taxes, and withdrawal strategy. Your plan is updated in real time as your accounts move, and our annual review is where we go deeper and uncover the changes worth pursuing.
Equity and liquidity planning
We help business owners, startup founders, and technology professionals make confident, informed decisions about equity compensation, including stock options, Restricted Stock Units, and restricted stock. If you hold stock in your company or are approaching a liquidity event, the choices you make about when and how to exercise can have a significant effect on both your long-term results and your tax liability.
Business exit planning
Pre-sale tax coordination, liquidity event structuring, retirement plans for owners, and the handoff from business balance sheet to personal one.
Hermosa Tax
Hermosa Tax offers tax preparation, bookkeeping, and fractional CFO work, on a fully virtual and efficient basis. Hermosa Tax is separate legal entity under common ownership with Hermosa Inc. You are never required to use it, and doing so is not a condition of our advisory relationship.
A disciplined, evidence-based approach to long-term investing.
We believe investing is a long-term commitment to your financial well-being. Our approach is built on diversification, patience, cost and tax awareness, and a portfolio that stays aligned with your objectives as markets and circumstances change.
Every portfolio is built around a single household: its goals, its risk tolerance, its tax situation, its time horizon, and what it already owns. We manage portfolios day to day and coordinate them with the rest of your plan.
Global equity growth
Broadly diversified core equity exposure, managed with attention to holding period, embedded gains, and execution so that portfolio changes are made with the tax consequences in view.
Direct indexing and tax-aware SMAs
For clients with significant taxable assets, strategies that own individual securities rather than fund shares. We discuss with each client whether this is an appropriate vehicle for their circumstances.
Concentrated stock and equity compensation
Planning around stock options, Restricted Stock Units, restricted stock, and pre-IPO holdings. We help clients understand the options available for accessing liquidity, and the potential tax consequences of each, whether the goal is funding a significant purchase, reducing a concentrated position, or diversifying over time.
Alternative investments
Where and when appropriate for a client’s circumstances, Hermosa has access to private equity, private credit, real assets, and hedge strategies through institutional platforms, subject to eligibility and suitability requirements.
Fixed income and income strategies
Fixed income allocations selected for income, capital preservation, or duration management, using individual securities as well as ETFs and mutual funds, depending on what fits the client’s situation.
Manager research and due diligence
We follow global managers and asset allocators and test what they publish against our own work before any of it reaches a client portfolio.
Alternative investments involve substantial risk, including possible loss of principal, and are illiquid. They are available only to accredited investors and qualified purchasers where appropriate, and only where suitable given the client’s overall financial situation. Diversification and asset allocation do not ensure a profit or protect against loss. Investing involves risk, including possible loss of principal.
Every relationship begins the same way. We listen.
Listen
Understand your full picture, including goals, timeline, taxes, family, and what you have already built, before we make a single recommendation.
Plan
Build one integrated plan covering investment strategy, retirement income, tax coordination, estate preservation, and risk.
Implement
Put it to work across the different accounts in the household rather than one at a time, with tax efficiency and cost awareness built in.
Monitor
Review on an ongoing basis, communicate proactively, and adjust as your life and the markets move. The plan is a living document.

A comprehensive platform, guided by independent advice.
Hermosa combines portfolio management conducted in-house with an open architecture platform, giving clients access to a broad range of investment capabilities across public and private markets.
Our investment models are developed and maintained by the firm and managed day to day rather than outsourced to a model provider. Where a strategy outside those models is appropriate for a client’s circumstances, our platform provides access to a broad range of third-party model portfolios and separately managed accounts run by institutional asset managers, including tax-aware SMAs.
Capabilities span global equity and fixed income, direct indexing, individual municipal and corporate bonds, structured and defined-outcome strategies, and alternative investments for eligible clients. Selection is driven by suitability, cost, tax efficiency, and fit within the client’s overall plan.
Truly independent, critical thinking
As an independent registered investment advisor, Hermosa answers to no parent company, no in-house fund lineup, and no sales targets. Every recommendation is the product of our own judgment, not a model we’re required to follow. Each strategy is evaluated on its own merits and on its fit for a specific client. Because each advisor’s practice is capped at 80 households, the advisor who develops your plan is the advisor who implements it.
Your assets are held by an independent custodian.
With Schwab as our custodian, Hermosa Wealth Management has access to a wide range of products and services that help us meet client needs, including:
- Forward-focused technology that lets investors easily access all their accounts online and view positions, balances, and account histories in one place
- Separately managed account services for those who want to leverage the expertise of institutional-caliber money managers who specialize in specific investment styles
- Investment account types that meet you where you’re at, including retirement accounts, charitable giving, and education accounts

Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions we are asked most often about fees, custody, conflicts, and how we work.
Why do you cap each advisor at 80 households?
This is straightforward. For our clients, especially those with complicated personal financial situations, thoughtful advice takes time and effort. We aim to provide a high-touch, personalized experience. If our advisors were managing 200 households, we believe that experience would suffer. Our household cap is how we commit to something larger firms structurally cannot.
How are you paid, and what is included?
We are compensated one way: a percentage of the assets we manage for you, billed quarterly in arrears. No commissions, no product revenue, no referral fees. What you pay appears on your statement, and it is the only compensation we receive for advisory services. Our fee rises and falls with the value of your portfolio, which is deliberate. Your advisory fee is set out in your advisory agreement. Underlying funds carry their own internal expenses, and the custodian may charge certain transaction or account fees, in addition to our advisory fee. See Form ADV Part 2A, Item 5. Hermosa Tax is an affiliated company under common ownership. It is not included in your advisory fee, and if you choose to engage it, it charges its own separate fees.
Are you a fiduciary, and what does that mean day to day?
Yes. We are legally and ethically obligated to act in your best interest at all times. Conflicts that do exist are disclosed in our firm brochure, Form ADV Part 2A. One example: Hermosa Tax is a separate legal entity affiliated with Hermosa Inc. through common ownership, it charges its own fees, and you are never required to use it.
Where are my investment assets held?
Hermosa Wealth Management has selected Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. (“Schwab”) as a custodian for our clients' accounts. Having Schwab act as custodian for client assets provides us access to a wide range of services that help us serve our clients.
Accounts are registered in your name. Hermosa does not take custody of client assets, and you can verify every position in your account independently of us. That separation is deliberate, because the firm advising you is not the firm holding your assets. See the custody section above for more detail.
I hold concentrated stock or pre-IPO equity. When should we talk?
Earlier than most people do. Once shares become tradable, timelines compress and options narrow. The decisions that matter most are largely made before liquidity rather than after, including which type of equity you hold, when to exercise, how to manage Alternative Minimum Tax exposure, how to spread a sale across tax years, and how to reduce concentration without abandoning the upside. We work with equity holders across advanced manufacturing, defense and space, robotics and automation, electric mobility, and software, many of them here in the South Bay.
What is Hermosa Tax, and am I required to use it?
Hermosa Tax is a fully virtual practice offering tax preparation, bookkeeping, and fractional CFO services, with secure document upload, online booking, and remote review, and no office visit required. Having tax preparation in view gives us full transparency for tax planning rather than working from a return we never see. The bookkeeping side is for clients with a side business or a small company, getting the books in order well before tax time instead of during it. It is a separate legal entity affiliated with Hermosa Inc. through common ownership, and because principals of Hermosa Inc. may benefit financially when clients engage it, that affiliation is a conflict of interest. Clients are never required to use Hermosa Tax, and doing so is not a condition of our advisory relationship. Information flows between the two firms only with your written authorization. See our Form ADV Part 2A for additional detail.
What happens in the first ninety days?
We listen first. The opening conversations are about your full picture, including goals, timeline, tax situation, family circumstances, and what you have already built, before we make a single recommendation. From there we build one integrated plan, then implement it across the different accounts in the household rather than one at a time. Review is ongoing rather than annual. We go deeper once a year and revisit whenever your circumstances change.
What should I ask any advisor before hiring them?
How are you paid, and is that the only way you are paid? Are you a fiduciary at all times, or only on certain accounts? Who holds my assets? How many households do you serve, and who actually answers when I call? What conflicts of interest do you have, and where are they disclosed? Can I see your Form ADV? We believe any advisor worth hiring will answer all six without hesitating.
What is a municipal bond ladder, and who is it for?
A ladder is a series of individual bonds with staggered maturities, built bond by bond rather than bought as a fund. For clients in higher tax brackets, we believe tax-exempt income is often one of the most efficient sources of portfolio yield. We construct ladders around your tax situation, income needs, and time horizon, drawing on thousands of individual fixed income securities. A ladder rewards patience, because it is built to be held rather than traded.
